About me… Jean, Jean the Cooking Queen

I am a busy Wife and Mom with two busy children, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 3 businesses – one of which is an online cooking site. Over the past twenty plus years, I have developed my passion for cooking and also sharing that passion with others. I have been fortunate to be able to attend cooking classes through Master Chef at Le Cordon Bleu. My style and taste is eclectic as I have traveled to Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean to expand my cooking knowledge and menu choices.  I have a special love for Italy and specifically the food we discovered while vacationing there.  During my travels and my quest to discover new methods and ingredients… one theme was consistent in every country.   It is possible to prepare delicious meals with fresh ingredients without having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  Inspired by my travels, I am in the process of writing cookbooks and have published several articles. My quest for simplicity in cooking has allowed me to develop my business and teach others how to bring their family back to their dinner table.

How did my passion for fresh, delicious easy to prepare meals begin?

How did my passion for fresh, delicious, easy to prepare meals begin? Looking back, I now realize that it all started when I was a little girl. My Mom was always in the kitchen and my best childhood memories are of making homemade noodles and donuts with her… When we made donuts, I got to mix and shake the bag with the powdered sugar or cinnamon.   While many of my best childhood memories were in the kitchen, as I got older, I began to perceive cooking as “work”.  I guess that perception came from the fact that my Mom was a typical 1960’s housewife and spent all day in the kitchen.  It was not uncommon for her to start cooking dinner in the morning.   I decided that this cooking all day in the kitchen business was not for me!  I was going to enjoy my life and have a fabulous career. And if that meant eating out of a box, so be it!  Off to college I went and climbed that corporate ladder only to find that it was not my passion. I was introduced to The Pampered Chef in my mid-twenties. It seemed much easier to make a meal than I had remembered …   I listened, I learned and I tried… and, I began to realize that I just might be able to cook and eat something that was not only simple and quick to prepare, but also fresh and delicious.  And that’s when my story truly began!
